Artist Talk...

Looking forward to speaking at the upcoming Articulate Event hosted by the West Carleton Arts Society.

Norman Pirollo, artist

Wednesday June 17 - 7PM St Paul's United Church, 3760 Carp Rd. parking & entrance at the back. Norman Pirollo discovered a passion for the arts at an early age. Following a career in the IT industry, he has since embraced his creativity and returned to his passion of creating unique contemporary art. Norman is self-taught in both the fine arts and decorative arts. His organic sculptural and wood art is developed utilizing a unique dye-infused process. He also enjoys working with micro photography techniques he has developed to create new media art in unique, organic compositions. Norman currently creates abstract art in the abstract expressionist genre. Techniques used to create his art include scraping and brushing the acrylic medium onto canvasses to create a textured, organic composition drawing the viewer in. “I am intrigued by the beauty of abstract expressionist art forms. My work is informed through that of the New York School of Abstract Expressionists (AbEx) as well as the Canadian artists of the Automatiste movement. This opens up a new genre of art to me. I seek out captivating and intriguing compositions to create my artwork.” Norman's work has been featured in books such as "Studio Furniture: Today's Leading Woodworkers", "Wood Art Today 2", "500 Cabinets" as well as Ottawa Life and various international magazines. He is the recipient of numerous art awards. Norman has recently been selected as a finalist for the prestigious NICHE Awards as well as a finalist for the Art Trends Artist of the Year Award. He has recently published two books. Norman currently resides and operates his studio in Ottawa, Ontario. Please join us for what promises to be a most interesting and creative look into the artistic process. Admission is free for members of the WCAS and $5 for other guests.
